You Can’t Fix Me

Guess what? You can’t fix me!

When someone says, I have (insert condition, illness, diagnosis, disease)

Please stop asking them “Have you tried?” “Just do this and” “Are you doing this?” (insert unsolicited advice)

Don’t do that! Don’t ever do that unless they ask for your advice, stop insulting people’s intelligence.  You really think they want to suffer, cmon now? You really think you know better than them? Do you really think they haven’t tried everything? Speaking to doctors and specialists, going to therapy, going to treatments and workshops, breaking down doors for help or researching for hours on end?

We don’t want to be sick but YOU aren’t the cure. Don’t try and fix me, that’s on me if it applies. Trying to fix me won’t stop you from getting sick, aging or unexpected things happening to you. I think it’s the fear of falling apart, “ If it can happen to them what about me? that makes people rush at the opportunity to solve people’s issues. Bad things happen to people and it’s not always their fault.

The fear of death, disease and ageism is often why random folks think they can easily solve other people’s problems. In most cases especially chronic conditions, you can’t, where’s your qualifications and case studies? Just stop.

If they don’t ask for you help or advice, just listen,  be supportive and kindly stay in your lane. 💕
